Dulcimer Stands

I have been asked many times where to buy a good dulcimer stand. I have bought a few but have always found them lacking in one respect or another. So I designed one that satisfies my needs, and possibly the needs of the traveling musician who needs to have a dulcimer at hand, whether at a jam, workshop or on stage. Of course these stands are great for displaying dulcimers at home too.

I build my stands of the same beautiful hardwoods I use to make my dulcimers. Each stands about 23" tall with a stable 11 x 14 inch footprint. It collapses to 23 x 11 x 5 inches and weighs a mere 14 ounces (quite portable and shippable). It features legs that lock with a twist of a knob at the joint, and skid proof feet. You will feel secure when you use one of these on stage. It is designed to hold all the dulcimers I own and quite possibly most of the dulcimers on the market today without making any adjustments in the spacing of the holding pegs. That is what I call an elegant solution.

I use wormy chestnut, curly maple, walnut, cherry or whatever I have on hand and looks pretty. I sand each one smooth, varnish it and rub it down like I do all my instruments.
