Here are some examples of shell inlay by Keith Young. Keith can take your ideas and turn them into designs you can be proud of. He cuts the design out of flat shell blanks that are of various sizes and .050” thick, temporarily glues them on to the instrument, marks their boundaries, routes out the design and glues them in. He uses white mother of pearl often figured or swirled, gold mother of pearl, green abalone, red abalone and paua abalone, the most colorful with intense greens, blues and purples.
